| Hi, my name is Joe Champagne. I was born in Waterville,
Maine (a small town in the central part of the state). While growing
up I enjoyed participating in all team sports such as basketball,
baseball, and football. I also enjoyed outdoor activities such as
swimming, fishing, and water skiing during the summer as well as cross
country skiing and snowmobiling during the winter months.
I graduated from Waterville High School in 1981 and attended physical
therapy college from 1981 to 1985 at Daemon College in Buffalo,
New York. After graduating with my Physical Therapy degree I returned
back to Maine and worked from 1985 to 1987. I then relocated to
the Northern panhandle of West Virginia which is located just outside
of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I worked at a small community hospital
called Reynolds Memorial Hospital. My work experience there included
managing and directing the physical therapy department as well as
treating a variety of patients in various settings including skilled
nursing, industrial, inpatient and outpatient physical therapy.
In 1993 I left my position at Reynolds Memorial Hospital and assumed
a traveling physical therapist position with a large company called
NovaCare. In assuming this traveling position I was primarily responsible
for assisting NovaCare and establishing physical therapy services
at different clinics around the country. The extent of my duties
changed depending on the location and the types of services we were
offering. I worked for NovaCare from 1993-1998.
After completing my job with NovaCare in 1998, I decided I would
like to stop traveling as I had grown weary of the traveling lifestyle.
Having traveled to many different parts of the country, I found
the decision of where to settle and relocate a difficult one. I
knew that I wanted to find a community which offered many outdoor
activities and beautiful scenery in conjunction with a small town
atmosphere. So it was a wonderful surprise and opportunity when
there was an opening for work here in the Mt. Shasta area. In September
of 1998 I had the good fortune of being offered employment here
and relocated to the Mt. Shasta area.
During the short time that I have been in the Northern California/Mt.
Shasta area I have truly grown to love this part of the country.
The recreational activities are limitless and the opportunity to
explore and grow as a person abound. Everyone has been so warm,
friendly, and helpful during the process of relocating and settling
into a new community I can only hope I am able to give back to the
same degree to the community which has already provided me with
so much.
